Mental Health

While one in five Canadians experience a mental illness in their lifetimes, only one-third receive the help they need and deserve. Trillium is planning “mental healing spaces” that will foster a sense of well-being, optimism and hope and return patients to their families and to the community as quickly as possible. More light and space, combined with patient-centred design features, result in greater comfort, safety, privacy and infection control. Expanding capacity and updating technologies results in increased efficiency and effectiveness and makes a dramatic difference to patients and staff alike. In partnership with the Ontario government, a 16-bed Adult Unit, 10-bed Seniors Unit and a 10-bed Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit is being created. Donations from the community will help renovate and equip an additional 22-bed Adult Unit.
