History
In July 1997, the Health Services Restructuring Commission directed the Mississauga Hospital and Queensway General Hospital to merge to become
a new hospital corporation. By April 1, 1998, the two hospitals had successfully amalgamated.
On October 6, 1998, Trillium Health Centre unveiled its new name and visual identity at special ceremonies at each hospital location. In the same year, a single board of directors assembled to form Trillium Health Centre Foundation. These events launched the beginning of a bright future. Together, the Health Centre and Foundation envision and lead extraordinary health innovation that is transforming the health care experience for our catchment population – one million residents in Mississauga, West Toronto and the surrounding region.
A highly qualified, dedicated work force of 4,500 staff, 1,100, volunteers and 600 associated physicians makes Trillium Health Centre one of the regions top employers with a significant economic footprint and deep roots in the community.
